The longest song ever written

Have you ever wondered what is the longest song ever written?
Well, you might be surprised by the answer. And bored. Very bored.

According to Guinness World Records, the longest song ever officially released is “The Rise and Fall of Bossanova” by P C III, which is a whopping 13 hours, 23 minutes, and 32 seconds long. It was released on November 1, 2016 and it’s a mostly instrumental, ambient composition that might put you to sleep before it ends. Or make you wish you were asleep. It depends on your taste.

But wait, there’s more.
There is a more recent claim for the longest song ever written that makes P C III’s song look like a jingle.
A Canadian artist named Earthena composed and released a song called “Symphony of the Crown” on October 1, 2021, which is an astonishing 48 hours, 39 minutes, and 35 seconds long.
It took a year to compose and it’s a classical music piece that features various instruments and vocals. Earthena’s song has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the longest official song.
That’s longer than some marriages. And definitely longer than some attention spans.

And then, world records get updated by the day, so here is the latest of the latest (n 2023) of the longest officially released song is 115 hr 45 min, and was achieved by Mark Christopher Lee and The Pocket Gods (both UK) in St Albans, Hertfordshire, UK, on 1 December 2021.

So, depending on how you define “officially released”, you could say that either P C III, Earthena or Mark Christopher Lee and The Pocket Gods  hold(s) the record for the longest song(s) ever written.
But these are songs without lyrics.

What about the longest song with lyrics ever written then?

One possible candidate for the longest song with words is,🥁🥁🥁, “In the Garden” by P C III, which is 3 hours long and has 7730 words in its lyrics. The artist even published a 428-page book with all the words to go along with the song. That’s more words than some people say in a lifetime. And more pages than some people read in a year.

So P C III held 2 records (at some point) regarding the longest song ever written. That is impressive! Well done!
Earthena is not in the competition, it appears.

Another possible candidate is “Rapper’s Delight” by The Sugarhill Gang, which is 14 minutes and 35 seconds long and has 2669 words in its lyrics. It also got a place in the Guinness World Records for 'most words in a hit song’.
That’s more words than some rappers can spell. And more delight than some rappers can rap.

So there you have it. Some of the longest songs ever written that will challenge your patience and endurance. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can check them out online or buy them on CD (if they fit). Just make sure you have enough time and snacks. And maybe some earplugs. Because these songs are not for the faint of heart or the short of breath.

Of course, there may be other songs with longer lyrics that are not widely known or verified, so this is not a definitive answer.

Do not be shy, leave a sign. I prefer nice words, but critics are welcome too. Do not spam, do not insult (me or others), avoid being vulgar. Respect is a MUST! Ps. If you don't see your comment right away, is because it needs my approval before becoming public, so don't waste your time insulting, nobody will ever know (besides you).
